Milonga Etiquette

- Creating a Wonderful Milonga Together -

Welcome to Sakura Tango Festival.
A milonga is a special space created by the resonance of everyone present—those dancing, those listening to the music, and those enjoying conversation.
A little bit of mutual consideration leads to the perfect embrace (Abrazo).
To create a heartwarming and unforgettable time together, we have put together a few "promises" we’d like to cherish.

CÓDIGOS DE LA MILONGA

It is always danced counterclockwise. It is necessary and important not to cross paths on the dance floor.

There are several lanes/circles on the dance floor. Beginner dancers can dance in the inner circles so as not to disturb the flow of people.

You should not enclose the couple in front of you. You should leave them the necessary space to take the steps correctly, and think that this couple can take a step back, make a turn, etc.

You should not take up too much space doing spectacular figures and choreographies. This does not allow for good circulation on the dance floor, and sometimes causes friction, stumbling or bumping into other couples.

If after all these tips, you accidentally hit a partner nearby, you should stop dancing for a moment and apologize.

When you are dancing and say "thank you" it means that this person no longer wants to continue dancing, otherwise you should say thank you at the end of the round.

When we dance, we don't talk or sing.

On the dance floor, we don't correct or teach, this can cause circulation problems.

Hygiene is also part of the code. Being clean, fresh and with good breath is essential.
The essence of the Milonga is to enjoy Tango, both its dance and its music, among friends. It is a moment of fun and distraction, therefore achieving a warm and friendly atmosphere is our main objective.
